“Routine kills creative thought” said Scarlett Thomas, Professor of Creative Writing and Contemporary Fiction. Routines make us feel safe. The shortest cuts are the ones we know. Risk factors have been reviewed and minimized. There are hardly any surprises beyond the predictable results after all. We would like to create workflow standards, build a system, plan the journey of processes and provide flow. We would not want to be concerned if the current model is already working. Then, how this process should be run without falling into the pit of routine, hitting the walls of monotony, and killing the creative thought?
Usually, routines are a continuation of previously examined habits. They consist of a series of actions that are followed regularly and contribute to the improvement of healthy habits.
The system has been established, workflows have been functioning very well and everyone is content…
It sounds amazing, doesn’t it?
On the other hand, when you remain in the same routine process, first the eyes deteriorate. They can not see the failures. Then the system destructs itself.
Every machine working in the system needs routine maintenance, inspection, and control.
If each process creating the service standards you have provided is not routinely audited, the routine will slowly destruct the system.
The established standards and created routines should be checked constantly. The system must be constantly tested, measured, and updated so that everyone continues to be satisfied. So, when was the last time you reevaluated your routine processes?
